Job Description

A Senior Manager in the Credit Department is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the credit function. They oversee credit risk assessment, policy development, and credit operations to ensure the organization’s credit portfolio remains healthy and profitable. This role is crucial in assessing and mitigating credit risk while ensuring that credit policies and procedures are followed.   • Conduct in-depth credit analysis of potential borrowers or clients, assessing their creditworthiness by reviewing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information.
  • Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to ensure consistent and effective credit risk management.
  • Make credit decisions based on the analysis of credit applications, determining credit limits, terms, and conditions.
  • Lead and manage a team of credit analysts, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure accurate and efficient credit assessments.
  • Monitor the credit portfolio to identify and address potential risks, taking proactive measures to minimize credit losses.
  • Lead credit risk assessment processes, including reviewing credit applications, financial statements, and credit reports to make informed lending decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Communicate credit decisions and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and borrowers, addressing their credit-related concerns and inquiries.
  • Implement effective credit monitoring systems to identify early warning signs of credit deterioration.
  • Prepare and present credit-related reports to senior management, highlighting portfolio performance, risk trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as sales, underwriting, and collections to streamline credit processes and improve overall credit quality.
  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize the credit department’s performance and contribute to the organization’s overall financial goals.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field is required. Master’s degree or professional certification (M.Com, MBA, MBF, CFA, CPA) may be preferred.
  • 5 years and above of experience in credit analysis and risk management, with a proven track record of making sound credit decisions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex financial data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to balance risk and reward effectively.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • High ethical standards and integrity in handling sensitive financial information and making credit decisions.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop long-term credit strategies that align with the organization’s goals.
