
AML/CFT Awareness Training on the 2026 Anti-Money Laundering Law
Farmer Development Bank Limited-Mandalay (FDB) conducted compliance awareness and training programs aimed at enhancing knowledge of Myanmar’s Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) and strengthening the effective implementation of related operational practices across the Bank.
On 21 August 2026, Ms. Kyu Kyu Sein, Acting Lieutenant Colonel from the Myanmar Financial Intelligence Unit (MFIU), delivered an online awareness session titled “Myanmar’s Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Initiatives.” The session was attended by approximately 150 participants, including members of the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer, Senior Management, Department Heads, and FDB employees.
On 7 August 2026, Daw Cho Cho Thein, Head of the Compliance Department, conducted a training session for 2026 Anti-Money Laundering Law covering the new legal provisions, key regulatory changes requiring implementation, and applicable penalties for non-compliance. Total 96 participants attended the session, comprising 40 in-person participants and 56 online participants.
The awareness and training session covered the regulatory requirements under the 2026 AML/CFT Law, including compliance obligations, operational procedures, reporting responsibilities, and the importance of strict adherence to relevant rules and regulations.
During the awareness and training session, sharing of practical experiences and case-based insights related to AML/CFT compliance including discussions on risk-based approaches (RBA) to mitigating potential risks and updates on the progress of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) implementation initiatives. Participants actively joined in discussions, showing enthusiastic interest in the topics presented, raised questions regarding AML/CFT compliance and operational practices contributing to a productive exchange of knowledge and experience.
